The IELTS test in Colombia: online Speaking preparation

If your goal is a master's degree, start with the programme's admissions page. Check the overall minimum and each skill minimum separately before you choose a test. In Bogotá, work from the master's programme you have chosen: note its minimum for each skill, then compare the centre's Academic offer with that requirement.

Choosing the test for your destination

The IDP Bogotá page distinguishes Academic from General Training and explains the computer-delivered offer. Before you pick a date, ask the receiving organisation to confirm which of these versions it accepts for your application.

What the averages mean

The Colombian figure comes from a nationality table. It describes a group of test takers, not the person reading this page. To shape a lesson, it is more useful to listen to your own answer and note one specific moment you want to work on.

The Academic table for Colombian nationality records Speaking 6.43 and an overall score of 6.53 in 2024–25. Source: IELTS test taker performance data 2024–25.

A useful practice task for Colombia

In your second recording, check whether the reason for your decision is clear before the example. If you mix two ideas, keep the one that actually answers the question. Comparing the two recordings gives you a practical task for the next session.

When the time difference with Hanoi makes a lesson awkward, adults aged 18 and over can use AI Speaking practice at another time. The system helps you rehearse, although its feedback needs checking. The paid Baseline and one-to-one lessons are live options.

Options and limits

The paid Baseline can give you a first recording to discuss against your master's requirement. One-to-one lessons let you attempt the answer again; the AI tool for adults aged 18 and over is for extra rehearsal, and its feedback is worth checking. See the Baseline or one-to-one lessons.

Two decisions to keep separate in Colombia

The fee published by a test venue is the cost of sitting IELTS there; payment to Jurassic English covers online practice. Before you pay for either, identify the programme or application you will send your result to. Note the deadline, the accepted test version and whether there is a specific Speaking requirement. Details from one Bogotá venue do not mean the same format, availability or price will apply in another city.

To turn that goal into a speaking task, pick a question about your study plans. In the first recording, notice whether you answer directly. In the second, add a reason and an example that supports it. Ask whoever is listening to point to the precise moment where the link between your ideas gets lost. The comparison helps you decide what to practise next; it does not indicate an official band. If you book a lesson, convert the time shown in Vietnam to the time in your Colombian city and double-check the appointment date.

Frequently asked questions

Can I prepare for IELTS Speaking from Colombia?

Yes. Adults in Colombia can request lessons if the schedule and the bank transfer method work for you.

Does practice give me an official score?

No. Your master's programme receives an official result; practice feedback only guides your next exercise.

Which time zone does the booking use?

Slots appear in Hanoi time; work out the Bogotá time for that same moment.

Does the test fee include lessons?

No. The Colombian test venue charges for the test; Jurassic English invoices practice separately.

Before you continue

Check the venue and the Colombian fee again, because the amount varies between centres. Copy the appointment, converted from UTC+7, into your calendar, and keep a note of the requirement set by the institution you are taking IELTS for.

A practice estimate is not an official IELTS score. Jurassic English is independent of British Council, IDP IELTS and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
