Choosing the test for your destination
The San Isidro centre lists Academic and General Training tests on computer. Check with your study or work destination which one applies: no general description of IELTS replaces the specific requirement of that application.
What the averages mean
Peru does not appear as a nationality in the Academic table of the statistical source. The Spanish-language figure groups test takers by first language, not by passport. Use it only as context, and look for evidence in your own voice to decide what to practise.
As a first-language reference, the Academic table for Spanish records Speaking 6.61 and an overall score of 6.70; these are not averages for Peruvian nationals. Source: IELTS test taker performance data 2024–25.
A useful practice task for Peru
Listen to the second recording for a link between your example and the idea you are defending. If that link is missing, try to explain it in one sentence. A later answer to a different question will show whether the adjustment carries over.
If you cannot find a convenient live time, the AI Speaking tool for adults 18+ lets you rehearse at another hour. Its prompts can be wrong. A Baseline appointment or a one-to-one lesson gives you human feedback on your sample.
Options and limits
A Baseline session can record how you explain your choice of studies. In one-to-one lessons you can review that answer; AI Speaking lets adults rehearse outside live hours, as long as any doubtful comments are checked. See the Baseline or one-to-one lessons.
From Lima to a specific application
The Británico San Isidro listing describes one venue and its price; it does not speak for every venue in Peru. Ask the organisation that will receive your score whether it accepts Academic or General Training and whether it sets a minimum per component. Keep that answer alongside the deadline. Budget for the test and for lessons separately, each in its own currency.
A good first activity is explaining why you chose your field of study. Record a short version and listen for whether the example really explains that choice. Then switch topic: describe a skill you learned outside the classroom and how you picked it up. If only the first answer is clear, you still need to practise the strategy in new contexts. You can bring both recordings to a lesson. Because bookings use Hanoi time, work out the time in Peru before confirming; a slot that is open in Vietnam may be inconvenient for a session from Peru.
Frequently asked questions
Can I prepare for IELTS Speaking from Peru?
Yes. An adult in Peru can take an online lesson when an available slot and the payment method both work.
Does practice give me an official score?
No. Recorded practice helps you prepare an answer; the university decides which official test it accepts.
Which time zone does the booking use?
The screen uses Vietnam time; convert the slot to Lima time before you put it in your diary.
Does the test fee include lessons?
No. Paying the Británico covers IELTS at that venue; teaching is paid to Jurassic English.
Before you continue
Check the Británico San Isidro fee, or the fee at the venue you will actually use. Note separately the test date and the Peruvian time of any lesson originally shown in Vietnam time.
A practice estimate is not an official IELTS score. Jurassic English is independent of British Council, IDP IELTS and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
